Online Fall Recital Coming Soon!

Our fall recital is coming on September 29, 2024! To participate, you must select a recital time on our SignUp Genius. The 4 pm recital is full but there are still plenty of spots available for the 12 pm and 2 pm recitals. We will also have a sound check for the recital on September 28 from 7-9 pm where we make sure your Zoom settings are set to help your child sound their very best! We are so excited to give our students this performance opportunity.

Practice Bites: Building a Healthy Practice Habit

We have been so glad to see everyone practicing with their Practice Bites sheets to prepare for the recital! Practicing every day will help build your muscle memory to be able to play your instrument more easily. Even if you are only practicing for a short time, just a “bite”, the practice time is still beneficial. Regular practice will also help you to learn music theory concepts that are part of your music, like reading the notes on the staff or identifying different musical symbols.

Part of our Practice Bites challenge includes using a timer to keep track of how long you are practicing. The timer helps to promote independence with practicing and improves time management skills!

Practicing can be difficult at first, but with repeated practice over time, playing music becomes easier and brings a lot of fun! As you gain proficiency in your instrument, you can learn familiar fun songs you enjoy or famous classical pieces. We hope your Practice Bites challenge leads you to a lifelong musical journey of playing and enjoying your instrument.

Join Us At The Dove Dash!

We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the 2024 Dove Dash! The Dove Dash is a local 5K run that takes place in Dove Canyon each fall. This year’s event takes place on Sunday, September 28, 2024. Besides the run, the event holds a pancake breakfast and has booths for local businesses and sponsors. Both Mary and Marisa will be in attendance at the Dove Canyon Music Lessons booth, so if you are participating in the run, come say hi!

You can still register to participate in the event or donate! All proceeds from the event go to the High Hopes Head Injury Program in Tustin.  High Hopes provides support for individuals with brain injuries.

SEPTEMBER STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: KIRA F.

Kira has been playing piano for the past 2 years. She is in 6th grade this year and she is working on Level 3B. Besides piano, Kira also plays the flute! Kira has a great practice routine to excel at both of her instruments. We are so excited to hear Kira perform soon. Congratulations Kira, we are so proud of your musicianship!
