Music Therapy
With Dove Canyon Music Lessons

What is music therapy?

Music therapy is the clinical use of music to achieve goals like reducing stress, improving mood and expressing yourself. Music therapy can be beneficial for people of all ages and abilities to improve cognitive, motor, speech/language, and social/emotional skills.

What happens in music therapy?

Music therapy involves multiple types of music experiences and interventions! Your therapist will work with you to determine what goals you will work on together. Sessions can include instrument playing, singing, music listening, improvisation, song writing, and more to address your non-musical goals.

Who can be a music therapist?

Music therapists attend a four-year degree program and complete a six-month full time internship before taking the national board certification exam. Both Mary and Marisa are board-certified music therapists with many years of experience.

Who can benefit from music therapy?

People of all ages and abilities can benefit from music therapy! Mary and Marisa specialize in working with clients with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and dementia.
